How we review contractors.
We review information submitted by contractors across five categories before approving participation in introductions. Each review records the information considered and its limits; approval does not establish suitability or availability for your project.
What do we review before contractor approval?
We review business identity, commercial experience, declared service area and capacity, relevant credentials, and references before contractor approval. Applications and supporting files are reviewed in a private portal. Each completed check needs a recorded source, finding, or reason. The review also records who completed the check and when.
- Business identity
- Company and business contact information, with a recorded source and finding.
- Commercial experience
- Relevant commercial project examples and the work the company says it performs.
- Service area & capacity
- Declared service areas, project size, and operating arrangements. Availability still needs confirmation for your project.
- Credentials
- License, insurance, or certification evidence relevant to the application. The reviewer records the source and any expiry date; a not-applicable decision needs a reason.
- References
- Project reference information supplied with permission to share business contact details, with the reviewer’s source and finding recorded.
What does contractor approval allow?
Contractor approval allows a company that has completed the required review checks to opt in to consideration for private contractor suggestions. Only the credentials category can be marked not applicable, with a recorded reason. Recorded expired evidence must be resolved before approval.
The company must separately agree to share its profile before it can be considered for introductions. During the current pilot, the application portal records this status as “Approved for pilot.”
What does approval not establish?
Approval does not establish certification, an endorsement of every service, guaranteed workmanship, or current availability. Evidence may change after review. Approval does not appoint a contractor or confirm suitability for a particular project.
How do you confirm a contractor’s fit for your project?
You confirm a contractor’s fit by checking comparable work, the proposed crew, current capacity, credentials, and the details of your scope. Our team’s suggestion includes why the company was selected and what still needs confirmation. Contractor profile information is supplied by that company.
- Ask for comparable work, the proposed crew, and relevant project references.
- Confirm the project location, start window, crew capacity, and operating arrangements.
- Confirm current insurance and any licensing or qualification requirements with the appropriate parties.
- Resolve scope, exclusions, engineering responsibilities, and reopening criteria before agreeing to the work.
